Walmart’s Black Friday video game deals are here, with discounts spread across PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. There’s a bit of something for everyone, whether you’re after some of the latest hits like Tears of the Kingdom and Assassin’s Creed or evergreen classics, from Far Cry to Lego Star Wars. Most of these deals are for physical games, unless we indicate otherwise, so if you have a digital PS5 or Xbox Series S, bear in mind that they won’t work for your system.
If you’re after more Black Friday deals, check out our roundups for GameStop, PS5 on Amazon, and Nintendo on Amazon.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - $49.99
Nintendo might not be discountingTears of the Kingdom on their official site, but Walmart is. Link’s new open-world adventure is going for $49.99 instead of its usual $69.99 – $20 off a physics system limited only by your imagination, off Korok launchers, Ganon spankers, and flying death traps that shouldn’t work, but miraculously do.Tears of the Kingdom is arguably a better adventure thanBreath of the Wild, with a better-realized world and a heavier emphasis on characters that put it up there with the bestZelda games.
Elden Ring (PS5) - $39.97
2022’s biggest and best game is on sale for $39.97 on PS5. Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s first attempt at translating the Souls formula to an open world, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. The franchise’s loose storytelling works exceptionally well when you’re piecing together random narrative shreds you stumble on throughout the world, andElden Ring‘s bosses are some of FromSoft’s best.
Final Fantasy 16 - $44.07
Square Enix’s dark take on the classic Final Fantasy formula is less than six months old, which makes this discount a pretty impressive one. If you want to experience Final Fantasy XIV-producer Naoki Yoshida’s first mainline game – and one of the bestFinal FantasyCid appearances – you can get it for $44.07.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Xbox Series X|S) - $39.11
One of the best Star Wars games is going for a pretty good price, $39.11. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga bundles together a whoppingninestories and a vast open galaxy in one package, with a suite of improvements for existing games – the originalLego Star Warstrilogy, for example – and plenty of new additions on top of the series’ signature tongue-in-cheek humor and a staggering number of playable characters.
Since it’s a digital code, this one will work on your Series X or Series S. Walmart+ members can get it for $15 starting Nov. 22, 2023.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury - $49.80
Speaking of best, one of the best Super Mariogames is discounted to $49.80.3D World was already an excellent Wii U game, with some of the most creative challenges in the series, but the Switch version adds Bowser’s Fury as well, an open-world expansion that pushes the boundaries ofMario level design.
Assassin's Creed Mirage (Xbox Series X) - $49.94
Ubisoft’s “back to basics”Assassin’s Creed game is down to $49.94, just a few weeks after launching. The spinoff prequel-sequel-side-story (confusing, even by Assassin’s Creed standards) follows Basim in medieval Baghdad at the height of the Caliphate’s splendor, and it swaps the recent RPG approach for a stealth experience instead.
Splatoon 3 - $49.99
Splatoon 3 has a slight discount, down to $49.99 from its usual $59.99. While it might not make huge changes compared toSplatoon 2, it doesn’t really need to. Excellent maps, a staggering range of weapons, and a lively online community give this next generation ofSplatoon a big boost, and there’s even more to come with a roguelike single-player DLC expansion.
Far Cry 6 - $14.97
Far Cry‘s take on liberation politics is down to $14.97. It’s more of the sameFar Cry, sure, but it looks great and there’s a lot of unique side stories to uncover if you take the time to look for them.
Wild Hearts (Xbox Series X) - $19.93
Wild Hearts, EA’s creative take on Capcom’sMonster Hunter formula adds a bit ofFortnite building in the mix. The results are as impressive as the monsters themselves, and the world EA built is absolutely gorgeous. If you’re keen to try it yourself, you can for $19.93.
The Last of Us Part 1 - $45.99
This is a decent discount for the slick remaster of Naughty Dog’s survival horror classic. If you enjoyed HBO’s adaptation and want to experience the source or just need to revisit an old favorite, you can do it for $39.99.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus - $47.50
Game Freak’s most ambitiousPokemon game in years is down to $47.50.Legends throws you into the past and asks you to catch Pokemon – a lot of them. The focus is less on building a team and more on learning about each ‘mon and how they live in their habitat. It’s surprisingly story heavy for aPokemon game as well. It’s so good, we even called it one of our favorite games of 2022.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons - $49.10
Animal Crossing on Switch is going for $49.10, and it comes with years of updates and even a big expansion that adds gardening and (finally) Brewster’s cafe.New Horizons gives you complete control over your island – how it looks, how your house looks, where the rivers flow, pretty much everything. It’s one of the best cozy experiences on Nintendo’s handheld.
