Mercer German Shepherds

Pemberton, New Jersey

All breeders lose dogs, it’s a part of being involved in the fancy. Not all the dogs we have lost on on this page however, they all touched us,
leaving their mark on our lives forever...
these ones below were just especially painful.

Cherished Memories of Mercer

Mercer’s Hocus Pocus OFA

Te’ Te’ your sudden loss was so very
 disappointing, words just cannot express
our sorrow. Your beauty and mischievous
grin were a shining light here at Mercer,
that will never be replaced... you have fun
now, the brothers are again reunited.

Time cannot steal the treasures
That we carry in our hearts,
Nor dim the shining thoughts
Our cherished past imparts.

Mercer’s Midnight Attraction Ofa

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

Woodhaven’s Dark Decision

Melanie was our foundation bitch. As the dam
of Lexus, and grandmother of Katie, Mandy, and
Nikki she has left us here at Mercer with a
legacy of which we are very proud. Melanie had a
love of life that shown in her face every day right
up till the end. She was always a favorite here at
Mercer... her comical nature and mischievous play
make her truly a dog to be never forgotten as well
as leaving many cherished memories which will
remain with us always...

“Remember me with smiles and laughter,
for that is the way I will remember you all.
But, if you can only remember me with tears,
then don’t remember me at all.”
~ Michael Landon

What we couldn’t figure out was why Ty never seemed to put on weight. Taking the advice of some internet friends I went to my vet and had Ty’s kidney function tested. My vet was astounded....and I quote “Linda, the only reason this dog is still alive and walking around is because of his love for you and your care of him”  Ty’s kidneys had been scarred and damaged by that encounter with parvo at 16 weeks of age....he lived 3 years with this damage and never gave us any indication.  Ty died quietly in my arms less than a week after diagnoses. Please be careful with your actions...

Mercer’s As Good As It Gets OFA

Sometimes....life just throws you a curve ball.

Wanting to help a neighbor with her “sick” puppy...she carried it to my home and set it down and before I could say anything our Ty was nose to nose with what turned out to be a puppy with parvo. Ty had his vaccinations, we did not worry much but he did get slightly sick in the coming week.  This dog showed in our area, at his futurity (got wood!) and his Maturity, he earned points in Canada...he had a fan club.
